Suu Kyi travels into Myanmar's countryside

Myanmar democracy icon Aung San Suu Kyi has made her first trip into the countryside since her release from house arrest in November.
An Associated Press reporter on the scene says Suu Kyi arrived Monday in the ancient city of Bagan where she met her youngest son Kim Aris who is visiting from Britain.

The trip is expected to last four days.
The 66-year-old Nobel Peace laureate is planning a separate trip to meet supporters in the weeks ahead. State media has warned that those plans could trigger riots.
Suu Kyi spent much of the last two decades detained by the country's repressive rulers. She drew large crowds when she last toured the countryside in 2003, but junta supporters ambushed her entourage and she was later detained.
